Rohingya refugees have been fleeing violence in Myanmar at a staggering rate – and the numbers keep growing. Last month UNHCR published a video to show their work, offering ‘mental health first aid’ to traumatised refugees.

More than 600,000 Rohingya refugees from Myanmar have poured across the border into Bangladesh in the space of two months. Each one carries the weight of the violence, deprivation and trauma they have experienced. UNHCR is supporting an initiative to provide ‘mental health first aid’ to the new arrivals. The UN Refugee Agency has dispatched a psychologist to “triage” their mental wounds. But much more help is needed.

Here’s the video. You can learn more about the ongoing situation on the Rohingya emergency on the UNHCR website.
